The Library, Fonthill, Pennsylvania

Largest of the several libraries throughout the house, this room's vaulted ceiling, its groins decorated with Mercer tiles, rises two stories providing a balcony level. The fireplace mantel face, also in Mercer tiles, depicts scenes from the discovery of the New World. "Fonthill," built 1908-1910, was the home of the late Dr. Henry Chapman Mercer, Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
