Stanford University’s J. Henry Meyer Memorial Library was built as the university’s undergraduate library. It was named after J. Henry Meyer, a successful San Francisco businessman whose family donated funds for its construction. The library was designed to support undergraduate studies with a large general collection, study spaces, and various academic resources. For decades, Meyer Library was a key part of Stanford’s academic landscape, offering students a place to study and conduct research. However, as digital resources grew in prominence and the building’s infrastructure aged, the university decided to demolish Meyer Library in 2015. Its functions were largely transferred to Lathrop Library, which opened in 2014 in a renovated building nearby, providing modern study spaces and access to technology-driven resources.

[LIB2704] - Introducing the KSFO Collection, Archive of Recorded Sound -- The KSFO Collection consists of audiovisual material and ephemera from this San Francisco radio station's years owned by Golden West Broadcasting, 1956-1983. KSFO was known for their news and sports coverage, as well as the voice talents of such personalities as Don Sherwood, Russ Hodges, Lon Simmons, and Al "Jazzbo" Collins. The majority of this collection involves station marketing, promotions, and fundraisers, although there are airchecks and other broadcast recordings. Production library material includes jingles, themes, music beds, promotional spots, and advertising. [Website]

[LIB2565] - At the top of the tower, visitors can see a carillon of 48 bells cast in Tournai, Belgium, a gift of the Belgian-American Education Foundation. The largest bell is inscribed, "For Peace Alone Do I Ring."

The lobby of the tower houses the Herbert Hoover and Lou Henry Hoover exhibits, which feature memorabilia from the careers and lives of the thirty-first U.S. president and his wife, both of whom were Stanford alumni.
