1908 Spies Library, Menominee, Michigan

[LIB1604] This fine building was a donation from a generous-minded philanthropist, Mr. Augustus Spies, who hired a Chicago-based architectural firm to create a structure that would uphold the civic values that used to be an important part of American society. (The firm, Patton & Miller, also designed many Carnegie libraries, but this is not one of them. However, Patton & Miller were also responsible for the wonderful Peter White Library in Marquette, MI, just up the road a-ways.) On the National Register of Historic Places. [Flickr website]
